Govt. Degree College Dehar is emerging as a co-educational institution that provides a platform to students of both rural and urban backgrounds. It currently caters to the local requirements but it is expanding its roots and aims to develop into an excellent centre of learning. Since most of the students are girls, the college boasts of giving great opportunities to female students. Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. J. P. Singh, the college is growing. The strength of the college is its well-qualified and dedicated faculty.

The college fosters an opportunity and commitment to learning for the students of rural areas for academic excellence, development of skills and most importantly character formation. ‘’ Teach me and I will forget; show me and I might remember, involve me and I will never forget.” This proverb aptly states the importance of co-curricular activities, which are undertaken alongside curricular activities to develop skills, strengthen self-confidence and provide a holistic experience. The college is committed to inculcating values in students and opening up vistas for their all-round development.

The college was notified on 31st January 2017 and is being successfully housed by Govt. Senior Secondary School, Dehar, provides a beautiful setting in the heart of the town.

Dehar is a sub-tehsil of Block Sundernagar, situated on the banks of river Satluj, located 48 km south of the district headquarters of Mandi. It is also famous for its Hydropower house where two mighty rivers viz., Satluj and Beas are linked. The Chandigarh-Manali four-lane passes through Dehar; the view being picturesque on either side of the four-lane.
